A Video presentation

in honour of my son

Bryan Thomas Alexander Delahunt

Demystifying Suicide

Welcome

The video is at the bottom of the page.
Please read about why I made this video.
World Suicide Prevention Day is September 10.
You can make a difference.

This one-hour video was originally a workshop offered on International Suicide Prevention Day (September 10) 2021 at  Groundswell Coworking in Simcoe Ontario and is the property of River of Hope Enterprises and Peggy Guiler.

Since 1997, I have been involved in Peer support training and have taught hundreds of people in Ontario about suicide intervention and prevention. I have also volunteered to facilitate a group for families bereaved by suicide.

Having lost close family members and friends, including my son and best friend to suicide, this subject is close to my heart and I want to do all I can to help people learn how to prevent suicide.

We can’t stop all suicides, but the tools and advice offered in this video may help stop a few. The information in this video will give you some ideas about what to say and do. An additional list of resources is available below on this website.

Not all statistics and resources may be current or correct. A great deal of editing was done to shorten the session to one hour.

Many thanks to Adam Liefl for his editing skills and to Groundswell Coworking for allowing me to use this video. Thanks also to those who have permitted me to keep their contributions to the discussion in the video.

During the video, there is a short True/False segment so you may find a pen and paper helpful if you want to participate. Taking some notes might also be helpful.

Things you will learn about include, facts about suicide, warning signs, how to intervene, some resources, and the appropriate language to use about suicide.

If you are suicidal I ask that you reach out for help immediately. Call 911, your family physician or visit a hospital. If you have other supports like a clinician or therapist call them or a helpline.

Below on this page, you will find a list of supports.

In order to make the video accessible I have kept the cost low.  If you need to watch but are unable to pay please contact me.

Blessings for the Journey

Peggy Guiler
